I’ve always thought of cold calling as a very intrusive way of attempting to generate leads. Not only is it an uncomfortable marketing method but it is terrible in terms of generating leads. Most people will not answer the phone (due to caller ID) or they will hang up on you before you even get around to your sales pitch.

Today, network marketers have it much easier than marketers of the past. Back in the day, cold calling was extremely popular and highly recommended. Now we can use the internet to promote our businesses and it doesn’t require picking up a phone.

My Recommended Network Marketing Methods

I am still considered a “new” network marketer as of this writing. I’ve only been in the business for a few months and I had no experience prior to starting. The training I received from my sponsor was helpful but I knew I had to market online to begin making significant progress.

1. Create your own web site – I don’t recommend depending on the default web site that your company may provide. These are cookie cutter web sites that don’t offer much in terms of branding. You are usually limited in what you can modify. People that purchase from you or sign-up under you are doing so because they like how you present your business. Brand yourself by having your own unique web site.

2. Become a blogger – Blogging is easy and every network marketer should have one. Constantly updating a blog brings free traffic from search engines. Having a blog is one of the major ways I attract new prospects.

3. Get social – You can network with thousands of people without ever stepping foot outside your door. This social networking phenomenon is in thanks to web sites like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube (video marketing.) Create accounts on these sites and interact with others. They are great ways to promote your business as long as you keep promotion to a minimum and offer a lot of value.
